Family Situation
Noemi’s family is very poor. Her parents do not speak Spanish and finding any work is difficult. The father is a day laborer who works for other people when they have odd jobs. Her mother tends to the needs of the children. Noemi wants to study to be a teacher but to accomplish this goal, she must live and attend school in another city because the possibility for advanced study in San Pedro does not exist.
The family would like to send her to college to study but this dream is economically impossible because surviving day to day is is already difficult.
Two years ago, our project helped Noemi’s brother, Eliseo, graduate from college. Eliseo now works as an accountant in Guatemala City. Eliseo is saving money to build a livable house for his family so they do not have to suffer through another cold and wet winter in a shack.
This family and Noemi need much help and our Project has made the decision to support Noemi for the three years she must study to complete her school.
School Situation
Noemí wants to be a Kindergarten teacher. She likes children and enjoys studying. Her vision is to help her family when she graduates from college to offer a better life for them.
Preferences
For Noemi, studying is not difficult. What is difficult is the reality of the family ‘s economic situation. It is impossible for the family to send her to another city to study and our project is her only hope.
