Family Situation
Xaylin she’s the second of five children in the family. Their situation is extremely difficult. Xaylin’s mother is responsible for everything because her father is an alcoholic and spends all the money he earns on his drinking. He is abusive to his wife and family. Actually, her father has left the family and the mother with her 4 sons, who live in a rented house. The mother works to maintain the family by making tortillas, which she sells to other people. The children also help out by selling the tortillas from house to house. They have a very small house that consists of a kitchen and a bedroom. It is not big enough for the children and they have to sleep on the floor. Also they don’t have electricity, so the family use candels at nights. It is a very difficult life for all of them.
